Part-time Lecturer – School of Education and Social Sciences at Karatina University

Position Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated professional to teach in a specialized and established programme of study at Karatina University. In this role, you will impart knowledge and skills to students by employing a range of delivery techniques to inspire and engage learners for effective learning outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach specialized courses and interpret curriculum to synthesize content and disseminate knowledge to learners
• Prepare course outlines and develop learning content to ensure adequate coverage and effective delivery of syllabus requirements
• Set, moderate, invigilate, and administer examinations to assess student understanding and provide progressive reports to the department
• Supervise undergraduate projects, dissertations, and theses at the graduate level, as well as oversee other experiential learning programmes
• Assess students during attachments, trips, and internships to equip them with technical knowledge for future careers
• Monitor class attendance sheets to ensure students meet the required attendance threshold (more than two-thirds of all lectures) before sitting for examinations
• Present examination results to the Departmental Board of Examiners
• Initiate, promote, and participate in research activities to generate new knowledge in the field

Required Qualifications

• Earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in a relevant field from a recognized academic institution
• Registration with the relevant professional body as required by your field of specialization
• Demonstrated potential for university teaching and/or research
• Fulfillment of the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya
• Master's degree holders registered for PhD may be considered
