Night Supervisor at AAR Hospital

Job Purpose

The Night Supervisor provides managerial and clinical leadership across all hospital departments during night shifts. This role bridges communication between the Nurse Manager, department leadership, and the executive-on-call. The position requires knowledge of utilization review rules and regulations to assist physicians and staff in determining appropriate admission status.

Key Responsibilities

• Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization
• Assess patient care requirements across all units by making rounds in the Emergency Department (ED) and throughout the hospital based on departmental activity and need
• Evaluate patient acuity levels in relation to current staffing arrangements and nursing ratios
• Develop and implement effective staffing plans for each shift based on patient acuity, patient census, and available staff
• Serve as a clinical resource to nursing and staff for solving patient care problems
• Assist staff in efficiently utilizing staffing resources to meet patient care requirements and professional responsibilities
• Provide immediate follow-up, documentation, and communication of incidents to appropriate managers and directors
• Respond to emergency situations (Rapid Response Team, Code Blue) and provide assistance as needed
• Identify and assist in solving administrative and operational problems affecting clinical staff
• Proactively anticipate potential problems during the shift and establish priorities accordingly
• Work collaboratively with nursing and allied staff to resolve issues in a fair and consistent manner
• Contact representatives from other departments for assistance with problem-solving when needed
• Interpret and ensure adherence to AAR Hospital nursing philosophy, policies, and procedures
• Report significant incidents to the administrator-on-call
