About the Role
This is a consultancy position focused on developing and implementing comprehensive media campaigns to promote agroecological practices and cross-border trade. The role involves creating culturally relevant content in local languages and documenting stories from border communities.
Key Deliverables
- Develop and design spot messages in local languages (Swahili or Luhya) for radio shows and social media, targeting border points in Busia and Namanga. Messages will focus on stimulating demand for agroecological produce and highlight experiences of informal markets, certification challenges, and trade improvements through agroecology
- Design and deliver a minimum of ten (10) posters with social media captions that explore informal market experiences, certification challenges, and agroecological trade benefits
- Book and coordinate four (4) local radio spots (maximum 30 minutes each) in Busia and Namanga in local languages. Support script development and interview question preparation for featured speakers
- Document human-interest stories from Busia border points, including:
- Ten (10) video reels (2–3 minutes each)
- Two (2) fact sheets
- One (1) designed booklet
- Develop articles and negotiate newspaper features/pullouts with stories from cross-border traders, emphasizing their challenges. Consultant to propose media houses and costs for review
- Complete all deliverables within three (3) weeks from assignment commencement
- Submit a detailed final report documenting the assignment
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field from a reputable university
- Minimum three (3) years of relevant professional experience
