Legal Officer I – TRA 7 at Tourism Regulatory Authority

Purpose of the Role

To assist in providing timely and accurate legal advice to Management, enabling informed decision-making and ensuring that the Authority meets its legal obligations in line with its mandate.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Implementing legal policies, strategies, regulations, and procedures and maintaining legal registry
• Preparing and updating records of gazetted matters relating to the Authority
• Preparing leases and contracts
• Ensuring safe custody of the Authority's legal documents and records
• Analyzing data for legal research, investigation, and preparation of submissions on legal issues affecting the Authority
• Handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries
• Preparing periodic legal reports
• Updating registers of conflicts of interest and gift registers
• Compiling information and evidence on legal matters affecting the Authority
• Undertaking any other duties that may be reasonably assigned and are consistent with the level of responsibility attached to this role

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor of Laws degree from a recognized institution
• Post Graduate Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law
• Admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid Practicing Certificate
• At least three (3) years' cumulative experience in the grade of Legal Officer II or in a comparable position
• Compliance with the provisions of Chapter Six of the Constitution
