## Title: Legal & Human Resources Officer

About the Role

AfriCert is expanding its dynamic team and seeking a talented Legal & Human Resources Officer to join our organization in Nairobi, Kenya. This role bridges legal compliance and human resources management across our headquarters and subsidiary operations.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Accuracy and timeliness in accomplishment of legal tasks with complete and current personnel files for HQ and subsidiaries
  • Full compliance and adherence to company policies across all operations
  • Effective communication and teamwork with all stakeholders
  • 100% legal and statutory compliance in HQ and all subsidiaries
  • Prompt implementation of post-internal audit corrective actions by all schemes
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of labour and tax laws for head office and subsidiaries

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure 100% compliance with all applicable employment laws, regulations, and company policies across all subsidiaries
  • Draft and review employment contracts, policies, and procedures to ensure legal compliance while protecting company interests
  • Monitor changes in employment laws and regulations, providing sound advisory and training to management and employees
  • Assist in handling employee grievances and disciplinary actions fairly and consistently, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements
  • Mediate and resolve conflicts among employees and teams to promote a positive work environment
  • Prevent legal disputes resulting from non-compliance
  • Conduct regular compliance audits to ensure adherence to relevant legal requirements
  • Assist the HR Manager in maintaining up-to-date employee records
  • Work closely with the QMR and Internal Audit teams to ensure closure of all internal audit queries and non-compliances across all schemes
  • Perform other duties related to the role as required

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Law or a related field; LLB or paralegal qualification preferred
  • Additional qualification in HR is an added advantage
  • 3-5 years of experience in a legal assistant, paralegal, legal operations, or transactional support role
