Head of Programmes at Terre des hommes (TDH)

About the Role

Terre des Hommes (TdH) is seeking a qualified Head of Programmes to lead programme development, management, and delivery across our Kenya operations. This is a strategic leadership position responsible for overseeing project design, fundraising, portfolio management, and ensuring alignment with TdH's global mission to support vulnerable children.

Key Responsibilities

Project Design and Fundraising

• Lead the development of concepts and proposals aligned with TdH's global strategic priorities: Health and nutrition, Access to Justice, Children and Youth on the move, and child rights in business
• Source and build relationships with potential funding partners in TdH's priority impact areas
• Ensure quality assurance on high-quality proposals, budgets, and log-frames with well-structured, professionally presented materials
• Maintain and update all grant management tools accurately and on time to ensure effective donor compliance and business development

Portfolio Management

• Ensure all projects remain on scope, schedule, and within budget
• Keep all project management tools current with monthly updates
• Lead monthly programme review meetings focused on delivery, quality, and planning across programme and support departments
• Champion child-led approaches across all programmes
• Ensure compliance with TdH policies on PSEAH, safeguarding, and best practice standards
• Produce analysis and reports for Senior Management Team decision-making
• Monitor and maintain accountability for programme quality standards
• Act as intermediary and focal point between regional technical advisors and field teams
• Collaborate with support services departments to prioritize resources for effective programme delivery
• Lead the programme quality framework and ensure log-frames are of high quality and relevance
• Maintain detailed context, needs, and gaps analyses with recommendations for intervention responses to support vulnerable children
• Ensure high-quality donor reporting

Strategy and Analysis

• Ensure implementation of programme elements within TdH's annual action plan
• Identify needs and propose responses based on TdH's strengths and added value
• Identify complementary programmes and opportunities for integration
