Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Head of Accounts to lead and manage the accounting function within our banking operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the financial reporting system is accurate, compliant with banking rules and regulations, and that financial operations are properly managed. This role requires strong leadership, technical accounting expertise, and a deep understanding of the banking environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Control the accounting process of the bank to maintain correct, comprehensive, and up-to-date financial statements within adopted accounting standards
- Prepare, review, and approve financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, ensuring full compliance with IFRS and other applicable reporting requirements
- Ensure strict compliance with Central Bank regulations, financial reporting regulations, taxation regulations, and all other relevant banking regulations
- Manage the general ledger, including examination of accounting entries, provisions, accruals, and adjustments
- Monitor day-to-day accounting activities, including transaction processing, suspense account handling, and closing differences in account reconciliations
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning functions, and conduct in-depth variance analysis
- Provide comprehensive financial reporting and analysis to senior management to facilitate planning and decision-making
- Design and enforce effective internal control systems, accounting policies, and procedures to strengthen financial management processes
- Coordinate internal, external, and regulatory audits, ensuring timely completion and resolution of audit findings
- Monitor all tax matters and ensure appropriate tax compliance
