About the Department
The Department of Biomedical Sciences is a multidisciplinary department comprising faculty from a wide range of basic science teaching and research expertise, including Human Anatomy, Biochemistry, Medical Physiology, and Pharmacology. The Department strives to inspire, innovate, and lead in Biomedical Science teaching and learning in an inclusive community where students, academics, researchers, clinicians, alumni, and industry together foster learning.
Position Overview
Aga Khan University's Department of Biomedical Sciences is seeking a full-time Lecturer in Medical Physiology who will make a significant contribution to the delivery of high-quality teaching in Medical Physiology across MBChB and BSc Nursing undergraduate programmes. The successful candidate will play an important role in embedding research expertise into the discipline and the Department of Biomedical Sciences, and will be required to develop high-quality, productivity-driven networks across AKU and with local, national, and international partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach Medical Physiology and provide academic advice and support to Medical College as well as School of Nursing and Midwifery (SONAM) students
- Contribute to curriculum development and innovation in teaching, learning, and assessment in Medical Physiology, working closely with colleagues to create an effective integrated curriculum
- Evaluate and develop blocks that include Medical Physiology in terms of content, delivery, and assessment
- Develop proposals for research funding and present academic papers at conferences, seminars, workshops, and symposia
- Contribute to scholarship in medical education or other areas of inquiry within the Medical College and the School of Nursing and Midwifery (SONAM) in collaboration with colleagues
- Represent the Medical College and SONAM at local, regional, and national forums
