Firefighter Trainee - 100 Posts at Kenya Airports Authority

Job Purpose

The job holder will be responsible for providing and carrying out rescue and firefighting services to passengers, other airport users, and property at Kenya Airports Authority.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct fire and rescue services through firefighting in crashed aircraft and reported fire outbreaks in buildings to save life and property
• Respond to aircraft emergencies as per airport services manual
• Inspect fire engines, appliances, and equipment to ensure serviceability
• Clean and maintain appliances and equipment at the fire station to ensure they are in good working order
• Inspect runways, taxiways, and apron for fuel spillage and Foreign Object Debris (FODs) and ensure they are clean and safe
• Inspect the airport boundary and topography to ensure accessibility
• Operate pumps and drive fire engines and vehicles when required
• Participate in fire drills as required

Key Qualifications and Experience

• Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) Grade C (Plain); candidates from Minority groups, Marginalised Communities, and Persons living with Disabilities (PWDs) require KCSE Grade C- (Minus)
• Basic Fire Training from National Youth Service (NYS) or a recognized institution (added advantage)
• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certificate (added advantage)
• Age requirement: Between 26 and 28 years for general candidates; for candidates from Minority groups, Marginalised Communities, and Persons living with Disabilities (PWDs), age range applies based on specific criteria
