Feed Mill Manager at Skills Geographic Kenya (SGK)

About the Role

This position offers a great opportunity for career growth. You will lead and manage the full spectrum of operations at an animal feed manufacturing facility in the Mt. Kenya region. You will be responsible for end-to-end operations including raw material sourcing, feed formulation, production, packaging, and compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the feed mill to ensure efficient production and delivery of high-quality feed products
• Develop and implement operational procedures to maximize productivity and minimize downtime
• Manage raw material sourcing, feed formulation, and production processes
• Ensure packaging meets quality standards and regulatory requirements
• Maintain compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards
• Lead and supervise production teams

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Food Science and Technology, Animal Nutrition, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in feed mill operations or related manufacturing environment
• Proven experience managing large-scale feed production operations from raw material sourcing to final packaging
• Deep expertise in animal nutrition and feed formulation techniques
• Demonstrated operational leadership experience in a busy feed mill or manufacturing environment
• Strong knowledge of raw material markets (local and international)
• Familiarity with automated feed milling systems and plant machinery

Technical Skills & Knowledge

• Proficiency in feed formulation software
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks governing animal feed production in Kenya
• Competency in MS Office suite, ERP systems, and production management tools
• Deep understanding of animal nutritional needs

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant field
• Knowledge of ISO, HACCP, and other quality systems

Additional Requirements

• Willingness to travel to raw material suppliers, farms, or other company sites when required

Compensation

KES 200,000 - 300,000 per month plus company benefits
