External Auditors at Youth Alive! Kenya (YAK)

About the Role

We are seeking a qualified External Auditor to conduct comprehensive financial audits for Youth Alive! Kenya (YAK). The audit will be carried out in accordance with International Standards on Auditing (ISA) and will include all necessary tests and auditing procedures required for the assignment.

For donor-funded projects requiring separate audit reports, you will perform specific procedures as outlined in the respective audit terms of reference.

Key Responsibilities

• Formulate and provide an opinion on the Financial Statements based on audit conducted in accordance with ISAs (International Standards on Auditing) as promulgated by the IFAC (International Federation of Accountants)
• Request an Engagement/Confirmation Letter from Y.A.K. Secretariat management committing them to the preparation of Financial Statements and maintenance of proper internal control systems
• Verify acceptable documentation for all financial transactions
• Carry out tests of transactions necessary to obtain understanding of the accounting system and assess its adequacy
• Conduct verification procedures deemed necessary under the circumstances
• Pay special attention to accounting controls and financial transaction documentation

About the Organization

Y.A.K. Secretariat is responsible for the preparation of Financial Statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards that comply with appropriate international standards in all material respects. They also implement accounting, administrative, and financial procedures as documented in their manuals.

Required Qualifications

• Knowledge of International Standards on Auditing (ISA)
• Experience with financial statement audits
• Understanding of IFAC standards and requirements
• Familiarity with donor-funded project audit procedures
• Strong knowledge of accounting systems and internal controls
