About the Role

A reputable organization seeks a dedicated individual for the Deputy University Librarian position. The Deputy University Librarian will report to the University Librarian and play a key role in managing library operations and information services.

Key Responsibilities

• Standardize cataloging, classification, indexing, and dissemination of information
• Coordinate unified list of periodicals across the university's information centers and libraries
• Manage the establishment of Library Information Centers in the institution
• Supervise, guide, and counsel library staff
• Monitor publishing trends to advise on procurement of latest library information materials
• Communicate and interpret library policies and procedures to users
• Coordinate weeding and discarding of library materials
• Facilitate cataloging of data for library materials in line with established international standards
• Provide input in the development and review of library technical service manuals
• Prepare work plans and quarterly reports for the library
• Manage the library website

Required Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Library Studies, Library Science, Information Science, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
• Bachelor's Degree in Library Studies, Library Science, Information Science, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
• Minimum three (3) years of service in the grade of Senior Librarian Grade 13 or comparable position
• Two (2) published articles in peer-reviewed journals
• Certificate in computer applications from a recognized institution
• Registered with relevant professional body
• Demonstrated professional and administrative ability required for efficient performance of duties at this level

Preferred Qualifications

• Certificate in Senior Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks
• PhD degree
