Data Protection Officer

About the Role

We are seeking a suitably qualified Data Protection Officer to join Madison Group Limited in Nairobi, Kenya. The purpose of this role is to establish, implement, and enforce a robust group-wide Data Protection Compliance framework and systems to ensure the Group and its subsidiaries comply with all Data Protection Laws and regulations.

The successful candidate will be a member of the Data Protection Technical Committee (DPTC), responsible for implementing Information Risk and Data Protection programs across the Group.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise the Group and employees on data processing requirements under the Data Protection Act and other relevant written laws
• Ensure the Group's compliance with the Data Protection Act on behalf of the organization
• Facilitate capacity building and training for staff involved in data processing operations
• Provide expert advice on data protection impact assessments
• Cooperate with the Data Commissioner and other authorities on data protection matters
• Define and develop a comprehensive Group Data Protection compliance program
• Champion Data Protection compliance across the organization
• Develop and implement data protection implementation plans and strategies
• Interpret data in relation to data protection laws
• Analyze and classify data on behalf of the Group
• Identify patterns and trends in data sets
• Conduct regular Data Protection Impact Assessments
• Implement effective compliance training programs on data protection
• Coordinate the reporting of data breaches to the Data Protection Commissioner
• Respond to all data protection queries on behalf of the Group
• Issue and respond to notices on data breaches
• Work with the Data Protection Committee to align data protection policies with relevant laws
• Collaborate with management to prioritize business and information security needs
• Identify and define new process improvement opportunities related to data protection
• Develop, monitor, and update data protection documentation and procedures
