County WASH Engineer – Turkana WASH Hub at Artemis Outsourcing Limited

Position Overview

Our client in the NGO sector is seeking a County WASH Engineer to be based in Turkana County. This position will support the County WASH Hub and strengthen monitoring and evaluation of water supply and sanitation initiatives at the county level.

Reporting Structure

Reports to: UNICEF WASH Specialist (Sanitation & Hygiene)/Chief of WASH

Background

Monitoring and evaluation are critical to increase accountability, inform decision-making, and contribute to learning on best practices for achieving WASH objectives. The County WASH Hub encompasses all WASH activities and improves coordination in the WASH sector. County sanitation hubs have already been established, with Monitoring and Evaluation Units providing technical support to all actors at the county level.

The upgrading of sanitation hubs to comprehensive WASH hubs at the county level ensures that Monitoring and Evaluation units will be responsible for:

• Conducting training on monitoring water supply-related interventions
• Providing updates on current progress
• Enhancing coordination among partners
• Leveraging funds

Purpose of Position

This position provides support to the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit at the County Ministry of Water Services to strengthen monitoring and evaluation of county-level water supply initiatives. The role strengthens partnerships and knowledge sharing among various partners to achieve universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water.

The County WASH Engineer will receive overall supervision from the County Director of Water, working closely with the M&E consultant based at the WASH hub in the Ministry of Health, with technical guidance from the WASH Specialist at the UNICEF Lodwar Zonal Office.
