About APHRC
The African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) is seeking a Communications Officer to join the Policy Engagement and Communications (PEC) Program within the Visibility Unit. This unit is responsible for the Center's corporate communications and brand management, positioning APHRC as a thought leader in evidence-based policy formulation. The role involves showcasing organizational impact through policy engagement and creating awareness within Africa's research and development (R&D) ecosystem.
About the Role
We are looking for a creative, organized, highly motivated, and results-oriented individual with strong communication skills who is passionate about driving evidence-based change in Africa.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Communications
- Work with the Visibility Unit Manager to develop and deliver the Center's and project-specific social media strategy
- Manage APHRC's social media accounts with support and input from the Visibility Unit Manager
- Create interactive and engaging content tailored to diverse audiences
- Write compelling content for the website and social media platforms, in compliance with APHRC's editorial standards
- Ensure the APHRC website is regularly updated with the support of the Visibility Unit Manager
- Maintain high standards for copy and content, adhering to brand and style guidelines
- Supervise digital communications interns working within PEC
- Coordinate visibility and online campaigns with other APHRC regional offices and implementing partners
- Monitor social media metrics using specialized analytics tools
Content Generation
- Contribute to the development of corporate communication products, including promotional brochures, website content, newsletters, and annual reports
- Write, edit, and distribute diverse content including blogs, articles, press releases, case studies, human-interest stories, op-eds, and website copy that communicates APHRC's activities
- Support the development of new branded assets to meet organizational needs
