Chairperson of Audit Committee

About the Role

The Intergovernmental Relation Technical Committee (IGRTC) is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to chair its Audit Committee. This is a leadership position requiring strategic oversight and commitment to governance excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Chair committee meetings and set meeting agendas in consultation with committee members and the committee secretary
• Report to the Technical Committee on audit committee activities and decisions
• Support the Technical Committee in providing oversight and assurance on risk management, internal controls, and governance processes
• Follow up on the implementation of recommendations from internal and external audits
• Periodically arrange for review of the effectiveness and performance appraisal of the Internal Audit function
• Perform roles and responsibilities as laid out in the Public Finance Management Regulations 2015 and the Audit Committee Guidelines for National Government 2016

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree minimum in one of the following disciplines: Commerce (Accounting/Finance option), Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Auditing, Business Administration, or equivalent qualification from a recognized university
• Active membership in good standing with a professional body such as ICPAK, ACCA, IIA, or other relevant professional organization
• Minimum 10 years of senior management level experience with proven track record

Required Knowledge and Experience

• In-depth understanding of relevant public sector legislation, best practices, and emerging issues in accounting, auditing, financial management, risk management, human resources, procurement, and governance
• Good understanding of the objects and functions of the Technical Committee
• Thorough knowledge of audit committee operations as guided by Public Finance Management Regulations 2015 and Audit Committee Guidelines 2016

Personal Requirements

• Person of integrity who satisfies the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya
• Not a present or past employee of the Committee
• Must not have served as an employee or agent of any conflicting organization
