About the Role

A reputable construction company is seeking an Assistant Team Leader – Operations to support the Team Leader in coordinating and overseeing plant operations. This role focuses on ensuring optimal equipment performance, safety, and productivity within a dynamic and expanding team.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Team Leader in planning, organizing, and supervising daily production activities
• Coordinate and monitor shift operations to ensure targets and quality standards are met
• Oversee machinery and equipment operation, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity
• Support preventive maintenance scheduling and liaise with maintenance teams for timely repairs
• Monitor production processes to ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations
• Supervise and motivate operators, ensuring adherence to shift schedules and work procedures
• Track and record operational data including production output, downtime, and resource utilization
• Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance plant efficiency and reduce operational costs
• Ensure safe working practices are followed and participate in regular safety briefings
• Assist in training and developing machine operators and support staff
• Prepare and submit shift and performance reports to the Team Leader or Plant Manager

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• 10 years or more of relevant experience in quarry, mining, or heavy industrial operations
• Strong people supervision and shift coordination skills (supervisory experience is an added advantage)
• Solid understanding of plant uptime, equipment performance, and maintenance coordination
• Knowledge of safety compliance and regulatory requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Mechanical graduates from NYS (National Youth Service)
