Assistant Student Counsellor III

An officer at this level will work under the supervision and guidance of the Assistant Dean of Students. Position Overview: Duties and Responsibilities at this level will entail: -

• Conducting client intake and individual counseling and guidance sessions;

• Maintaining consistent follow-up with the students to ensure sustainable improvement;

• Preparing materials to assist in organizing counseling seminars and workshops;

• Participating in student’s orientation exercise to familiarize them with counseling services at the University;

• Documenting and updating clients’ records;

• Maintaining safe custody and confidentiality of counseling records; and

• Participating in the recruitment and training of peer educators.

Job Specifications For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -

• Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Psychiatry or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution and accredited institution;

• Relevant technical and professional certification from a recognized institution;

• Valid practicing license from the relevant professional body; and

• Registered with relevant professional body (where applicable).
