Senior Registrar – Anaesthesia

Position Overview

Nairobi Hospital seeks a qualified Senior Registrar in Anaesthesia to join our medical team. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Medical Services, you will be responsible for delivering clinical procedures and comprehensive clinical management of both in-patient and out-patient services. Your work will align with established protocols and the hospital's patient care objectives to provide optimal curative services.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct initial patient assessments, treatment, stabilization, and referrals based on patient condition to ensure optimal care
• Perform non-emergency and emergency procedures in consultation with Specialists and/or Consultants
• Conduct ward rounds for daily clinical progress monitoring and patient management in consultation with Specialists and Consultants
• Mentor medical officers in clinical procedures to enhance knowledge and improve patient care standards
• Provide anaesthesia coverage for hospital maternity package patients
• Participate in ICU coverage and rotation schedules
• Participate in patient reviews in outpatient clinics as required
• Shadow Senior Specialists on specialist surgical units
• Engage in continuous medical education to advance knowledge and skills in anaesthesia
• Pursue mentorship opportunities in anaesthesia under a specialist or consultant in compliance with specialist recognition requirements
• Participate in research activities, including researching two topics per year
• Participate in the development and review of clinical protocols to enhance patient management
• Maintain high levels of patient confidentiality and work ethic in accordance with the applicable code of conduct and hospital objectives
• Undertake any additional responsibilities assigned by your supervisor

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Master of Medicine degree in Anaesthesia
