Reception Class Teacher (Maternity Cover) at Banda School

About the Role

Banda School seeks a dedicated Reception Class Teacher to provide maternity cover. You will take responsibility for planning and implementing appropriate work programmes for all children in the designated class, within the framework of national and school policies.

Main Responsibilities

• Plan and implement comprehensive work programmes aligned with national and school curriculum policies
• Maintain assessment records and report on pupils' progress to staff, parents, and carers in accordance with school policy
• Manage and support the Class Assistant within the classroom
• Plan work in cooperation with the Head of Early Years to ensure children experience a broad, balanced, relevant, and stimulating curriculum appropriate to their age
• Tailor learning experiences to match the individual needs of each child, providing opportunities for all to achieve to their full potential
• Provide appropriate educational provision for children with learning difficulties and those with English as an Additional Language (EAL), with support from The Banda's Learning Development Centre
• Link children's work to first-hand practical experiences in line with EYFS/DfE guidance where possible
• Provide opportunities for children to manage their own learning and develop as independent thinkers
• Create a secure, happy, and stimulating classroom environment with high standards of organisation and discipline
• Maintain high-quality displays in the classroom and other school areas
• Organise resources, equipment, and materials to be properly cared for, easily accessible, and encouraging children to take responsibility for their own learning
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and fully implement short and medium-term plans and agreed schemes of work
• Assess and monitor children's progress regularly
