Position Overview

Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Kenya-AIST) is seeking a Professor or Associate Professor in Structural Engineering. This leadership position involves designing, developing, and implementing teaching and learning programmes; developing and executing research strategies; mobilizing resources; mentoring academic staff and students; establishing industry collaborations; and driving research dissemination and innovation commercialization.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and lead research partnerships, collaborations, and linkages at national, regional, and international levels within your area of specialization
• Initiate and lead external funding bids for research and consultancy projects
• Exercise intellectual, educational, and professional leadership within the Institute
• Promote innovative approaches to course design and delivery while ensuring compliance with institutional quality frameworks and educational standards
• Identify student learning needs and design appropriate learning outcomes
• Assess student learning activities, conduct examinations, and provide constructive feedback
• Develop laboratory manuals aligned with approved curricula in your thematic area
• Supervise students' thesis work, dissertations, internships, and attachments as applicable
• Mentor teaching and research staff and students in your area of specialization
• Champion the dissemination of research outputs and outcomes
• Collaborate with stakeholders and industry partners on technology transfer and innovation commercialization
• Provide academic leadership to foster a vibrant and productive academic environment
