Position Overview

Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Kenya-AIST) is seeking experienced Professors and Associate Professors in Civil Engineering, with a specialization in Structural Engineering. These leadership positions involve designing, developing, and implementing comprehensive teaching and learning programmes; advancing research strategies within your area of specialization; mobilizing resources; mentoring academic staff and students; establishing academic-industry collaborations; and driving technology transfer and innovation commercialization.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and lead research partnerships, collaborations, and linkages at national, regional, and international levels within your area of specialization
• Initiate and lead external bids for research funding and consultancies in your specialized field
• Exercise intellectual and educational leadership within the academic community
• Promote innovative approaches to course design and delivery while ensuring compliance with institutional quality frameworks, educational standards, and regulations
• Identify student learning needs and design appropriate learning outcomes
• Assess student learning activities, conduct examinations, and provide constructive feedback
• Provide academic leadership by fostering a vibrant and productive academic environment
• Develop laboratory manuals aligned with approved curricula in your thematic area
• Supervise students' theses, dissertations, internships, and attachments as applicable
• Mentor teaching and research staff and students in your area of specialization
• Champion the dissemination of research outputs and outcomes in your research areas of interest
• Collaborate with stakeholders and industry partners in technology transfer and innovation commercialization
