Position Overview

The Department of Political Science and Public Administration at the University of Nairobi invites applications from qualified candidates for 3 Professor positions (AC/11/16/25 R&T).

Required Qualifications

• Earned PhD or equivalent in Political Science and Public Administration from a university recognized by the University of Nairobi Senate
• Minimum of 10 years teaching experience, with at least 3 years at Associate Professor level or equivalent

Supervision and Academic Mentorship

Candidates must demonstrate supervision experience with successful completion of postgraduate students, meeting one of the following criteria:

• A minimum of 3 PhD and 5 Masters students (cumulative), OR
• A minimum of 2 PhD and 9 Masters students (cumulative), OR
• A minimum of 15 Masters students (cumulative)

Research and Publications

Candidates must have a minimum of 39 publication points from peer-reviewed journals, meeting one of the following criteria since last promotion:

• A minimum of 6 publications in refereed scholarly journals, OR
• A minimum of 4 publications in refereed scholarly journals and 2 scholarly book chapters, OR
• A minimum of 4 publications in refereed scholarly journals and 2 peer-reviewed working papers, discussion papers, occasional papers, or teaching/lecture modules

Additional Requirements

• Evidence of attracting research or development funds or educational resources as an Associate Professor or equivalent since last promotion
• Evidence of community service
• Membership in a professional body
