## Title: Pharmaceutical Technologist

About the Role

St. Francis Community Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya is seeking a dedicated Pharmaceutical Technologist to join our healthcare team. This is a key position responsible for ensuring the safe and accurate dispensing of medications while maintaining the highest standards of pharmaceutical practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review prescriptions to ensure accuracy, ascertain needed ingredients, and evaluate their suitability
  • Provide information and advice to patients regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage
  • Maintain records including pharmacy files, inventories, and control records for narcotics and controlled drugs
  • Compound and dispense medications as prescribed by doctors and dentists, including calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients, or oversee these activities
  • Plan, implement, and maintain procedures for packaging and labeling pharmaceuticals according to policy and legal requirements to ensure quality, security, and proper disposal
  • Analyze prescription trends to monitor patient compliance and prevent excessive usage or harmful interactions
  • Order and purchase pharmaceutical and medical supplies, maintaining proper stock management, storage, and handling

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a reputable institution
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in a hospital or busy health facility
  • Pharmacy & Poisons Board certification (mandatory)
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Professional etiquette and customer-focused approach
  • Willingness to go the extra mile in service delivery
