## Title: Officer, General Insurance

About the Role

The Officer, General Insurance is responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of general insurance products, including motor, property, casualty, engineering, and marine lines. This role ensures accurate underwriting and risk assessment to maintain profitability and compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess proposed insurance solutions to ensure they meet established standards
  • Advise clients on unforeseen risk exposures
  • Arrange risk surveys and assess proposed insurable interests before making client proposals
  • Ensure accurate premium computations and timely collection of all premiums
  • Ensure timely entry of policies into the system
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all policies underwritten and decisions made
  • Respond promptly to client inquiries via walk-in, telephone, and email
  • Liaise with insurance companies on technical underwriting issues relating to client policies
  • Generate renewal registers and dispatch renewal notices to clients in a timely manner
  • Collect accurate information and documentation to support claims reporting and adjustment
  • Ensure efficient client claims settlement within agreed turnaround times following documentation
  • Advise clients on claims handling procedures with possible timelines to final settlement
  • Engage external service providers such as garages and assessors to enhance service delivery
  • Communicate terms of service regarding new business and renewals to clients
  • Apply credit control policy by ensuring debit and credit notes are issued and delivered to clients and intermediaries promptly
  • Liaise with insurance companies to issue policy documents, endorsements, debit notes, invoices, and valuation reports to clients
  • Generate claims registers for corporate accounts

Maintain high standards of customer service by promptly responding to all client inquiries and ensuring professional communication throughout all interactions.
