## Title: Nursing Lecturer – Midwifery

About the Role

Presbyterian University of East Africa is seeking a dynamic Nursing Lecturer specializing in Midwifery to join our expanding team. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on nursing education and research while contributing to the strategic development of our academic programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach and train students in designated areas of midwifery nursing
  • Develop and review curricula to ensure relevance and quality
  • Conduct research and innovation activities, including grant writing and fundraising
  • Supervise and mentor students, including postgraduate supervision
  • Mentor and support junior staff members
  • Publish research findings and disseminate knowledge through appropriate channels
  • Assess student performance through setting and marking coursework, practical sessions, supervisions, fieldwork, and examinations, providing constructive feedback
  • Ensure adherence to quality assurance and accreditation requirements set by relevant regulatory bodies
  • Support the Head of Department and program leaders in the strategic development and administration of departmental programs
  • Engage in ongoing professional development activities
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned by the Head of Department

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Nursing or equivalent qualification from a recognized university
  • Registration with relevant professional nursing bodies
  • Evidence of peer-reviewed publications with a minimum of 28 points accumulated from the time of appointment as a lecturer or senior lecturer

Required Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years of full-time teaching at university level as a Lecturer, OR minimum of six (6) years of industry experience in the relevant field
  • Demonstrated experience supervising a minimum of three (3) postgraduate students to completion as a Lecturer
  • Familiarity with quality assurance and accreditation requirements of relevant regulatory organizations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in grant writing and demonstrable ability to lead research projects
  • Track record of successful bid writing and income generation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
