About the Role

Siaya County Government is seeking Medical Officers to join our healthcare team. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient care and contribute to the strategic direction of our medical services.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Participate in strategic planning of the division in collaboration with medical staff to enhance hospital performance and outcomes
• Attend to patients' medical needs, diagnose illnesses, and prescribe medicines and therapeutic interventions in consultation rooms
• Monitor and observe clinical conditions and patient progress in hospital wards
• Provide medical advice, counseling, health education, and control measures to prevent disease and injury transmission
• Collaborate with medical staff to address complex medical issues and participate in surgical operations
• Implement best practice clinical and patient care policies and procedures in the outpatient division
• Refer outpatients to specialized clinics and medical consultants for further diagnosis and treatment
• Provide quality emergency medical services in the emergency unit
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements for Appointment

• Kenyan citizen
• Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from a recognized institution
• Certificate in Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support
• Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council
• Valid Practice License
• Minimum one year of working experience in medical practice in a busy health facility
