## Title: Heavy Equipment Mechanic

About the Role

We invite applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Heavy Equipment Mechanic. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a wide range of heavy equipment to ensure optimal operational efficiency and minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, and perform preventative maintenance on heavy equipment, including excavators, motor graders, trucks, and loaders
  • Conduct repairs, replacements, and adjustments to mechanical systems for optimal equipment efficiency
  • Perform routine service tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication to prevent breakdowns
  • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment manuals
  • Analyze complex problems, develop solutions, and execute repairs efficiently to minimize downtime
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance and repairs
  • Provide detailed reports on equipment conditions and repair status to management
  • Track spare parts and material inventory, and assist in ordering required supplies
  • Advise management on spare parts procurement and fleet maintenance schedules
  • Coordinate with external service providers or workshops when specialized repairs are needed
  • Observe all safety protocols and maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment
  • Carry out any other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certificate in Automotive Engineering or related field
  • Minimum 3 years' hands-on experience in vehicle and heavy machinery maintenance, preferably in the construction industry
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulics, petrol, and diesel engines
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • High level of integrity, reliability, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision
