Library Assistant - AVIC at Kenya Methodist University (KeMU)

Job Purpose

To support learning, teaching, and research activities at Kenya Methodist University by providing electronic and audio-visual services to students and staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide audio-visual information services to users
• Support students and staff in accessing e-books and e-journals
• Train students and staff in information searching and retrieval skills through individual and group sessions
• Provide selective dissemination of audio-visual information to students and staff
• Organize and maintain audio-visual collections for efficient retrieval and utilization
• Collect, upload, and manage past examination papers on KeMU Wiki
• Provide online past examination papers information services to students and faculty
• Participate in curriculum development and review by providing reports on available audio-visual information resources
• Perform shelving and shelf-reading duties
• Process charge and discharge of information materials for students and staff
• Perform other duties as assigned by the University Librarian

Minimum Requirements

• Diploma in Information Studies (Library and Information Science)
• Relevant working experience in a library at an institution of higher learning
• Good organizational skills
• Proficiency in ICT skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Working knowledge of KOHA (Library Management System)
• Adequate knowledge of audio-visual information sources and services
• Ability to train users on e-resources
