About the Role
Durham International Schools is seeking an experienced Key Stage 1 Teacher to join our team in Nairobi. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality education to all students in your class, fostering their development across academic, social, emotional, and physical dimensions.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning and Assessment
- Plan and prepare learning activities and experiences aligned with the EYFS Framework and Key Stage 1 National Curriculum
- Deliver a broad, balanced, and creative education that enables every child to develop to their maximum potential
- Teach all students enthusiastically and to a high standard, adapting instruction to meet the individual educational needs of each child
- Continuously assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of every child
- Mark classwork and homework in accordance with the school marking policy
- Provide feedback that supports student learning and development
Pastoral Care & Student Wellbeing
- Provide pastoral care and safeguarding, promoting the wellbeing and inclusion of all students
- Create and maintain a well-managed and stimulating class environment that promotes positive learning
- Ensure every child is included and achieves to their full potential
- Communicate and consult with parents regarding the academic, physical, social, and emotional development of their children
Curriculum & School Community
- Provide opportunities for the use of digital technology across all curriculum areas
- Contribute to Year Group team planning and organisation
- Support and drive the school's ethos, aims, and values
- Contribute to the co-curricular programme and wider school life
- Maintain effective communication with parents as partners in their children's learning
- Conduct yourself in accordance with the School's Code of Conduct
