Hospital Housekeeper at The Nairobi Hospital

About the Role

We are seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Hospital Housekeeper. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing cleaning and housekeeping services to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the hospital.

Key Responsibilities

• Schedule and supervise cleaning and housekeeping services, conducting routine inspections of assigned areas to ensure compliance with established cleanliness and hygiene standards
• Prepare and monitor execution of checklists for assigned areas to ensure full adherence to cleaning standards
• Conduct staff induction and continuous training for new and existing outsourced cleaning and housekeeping staff to ensure understanding of and compliance with the hospital's code of conduct
• Participate in quality assessments of housekeeping consumables during the tendering process to ensure they meet required standards
• Monitor usage of housekeeping consumables and advise the requisitioning authority on minimum order levels to ensure availability and accountable use
• Conduct monthly evaluations of cleaning and housekeeping services and prepare related reports to document feedback
• Identify and report repairs and maintenance issues in assigned areas, following up with the maintenance department to ensure timely resolution
• Ensure proper segregation, handling, and transportation of hospital waste in accordance with waste management guidelines
• Participate in vetting of outsourced cleaning and housekeeping staff, monitoring validity of required certificates and vaccinations
• Ensure outsourced staff wear appropriate PPE while working in different hospital sections to prevent cross contamination
• Receive and address complaints related to cleaning and housekeeping services, ensuring timely follow-up and closure
• Perform additional duties as assigned by your supervisor

Required Qualifications

• Diploma in Hospitality Management from a recognized institution
