## Title: GIS Officer

Main Duties and Responsibilities
Mapping and Design
- Design maps, graphics, illustrations, and layouts for specialist and general users
- Communicate information through the use of colour, symbols, style, and other visual means
- Map water reticulation systems with appurtenances in GIS as required
- Map trunk sewers in GIS as required
- Develop new sewer profiles, layouts, and standard manhole details for new sewer connections
- Provide thematic maps in both digital and hard copy formats to management and users
Data Management and Analysis
- Collate data provided by remote sensing techniques and provide GPS data for customer meter points with their attributes
- Research, select, and evaluate map source data for preparation or revision of maps and charts at various scales
- Analyze and evaluate map-able information
- Design, maintain, and manipulate geographical information (GI) databases
- Capture, maintain, and output ELDOWAS digital geographic data
- Generalize map data to allow for reduction in scale (derived mapping)
- Check and appraise the content and accuracy of maps, charts, and printing proofs
Technical Operations
- Work with geographical information systems (GIS) to view, model, and analyse landscape features
- Operate plotting instruments and Digital Photogrammetric Workstations (DPW)
- Use desktop publishing packages to edit zone and route maps and formulate information
- Keep up to date with emerging specialist software
Coordination and Records Management
- Liaise with Ardhi House, surveyors, designers, and other legal authorities for cadastral maps updates
- Ensure safe storage of hard copy maps for reference purposes
- Perform other duties as may be assigned
