Financial Audit in Kenya at Sign of Hope (SoH)

About the Role

We invite applications from suitably qualified candidates for a Financial Audit position with Sign of Hope (SoH) in Nairobi, Kenya.

Scope of the Audit

The audits will focus on the following key areas:

• Verify the correctness and completeness of accounting records
• Review financial reports showing all project-related income and expenditure structured by budget lines
• Analyze deviations of expenditure by budget lines, with expenditures exceeding or falling below budget appropriations by more than 30% explained separately (where BMZ approval has not been previously obtained)
• Confirm that receipts and relevant supporting documents are available for all project-related income and expenditures
• Assess the management of funds made available, including transfers of project funds, all interest earned from project funds during the reporting period, and further income generated by the project
• Review the appropriate use of funds according to project objectives
• Evaluate the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of fund usage
• Assess budget adherence through comparison between budgeted and actual costs in the currency in which expenditure was incurred (audit reports will not convert examined amounts into Euro)
• Review whether personnel costs and social security contributions conform to regulations in the project country and are locally comparable
• Assess the economical use of project equipment and assets
• Review inventory and capital items, their whereabouts, and purposive usage
• Ensure compliance with the legal framework of the project (project agreements and annexes, contracts, etc.) and donor requirements
• Verify compliance with the implementing partner's policies regarding procurement, financial administration, human resources management, and travel
