## Title: Commercial & Conveyancing Advocate
Role Objective
A leading law firm in Nairobi seeks a qualified advocate to join their team. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in commercial and conveyancing matters, with a strong ability to advise clients and manage complex property transactions.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Offer legal advice to clients on the legal processes involved in purchasing and selling of property
- Conduct due diligence on conveyancing transactions, prepare sale agreements and completion documents
- Ensure proper registration of documents with relevant authorities
- Prepare property lease agreements and ensure contracts are duly signed as scheduled
- Draft conveyancing and legal documents
- Prepare security documents and ensure they are properly executed and registered
- Carry out negotiation, drafting and review of commercial contracts and legal documents
- Provide legal opinions and advice on commercial, corporate and property transactions
- Liaise with clients and key stakeholders including mortgage lenders, the Land Registry, Government Departments, estate agents, land valuers and surveyors
- Oversee handling of all client matters before the Lands Registry, Local Authorities, Survey of Kenya and National Lands Commission
- Assist with due diligence on intellectual property issues related to contracts and agreements
- Send terms of engagement and estimates of fees and disbursements to clients
- Enhance the firm's client base through effective liaison with existing clients
- Perform any other duties as assigned
