About the Role

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Assistant Director of Music to join our team at a leading preparatory school. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a vibrant Music department and help develop the synergy between Music and Drama programmes.

Essential Requirements

• Fully qualified teacher with QTS and teaching registration
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
• Substantial experience as an Assistant Director of Music or full-time Music teacher in a UK prep school or UK-style school
• Understanding of the operations of a large, busy Music department, ideally with quality Drama provision
• Strong musician with proficient piano skills for accompanying everyday musical activities
• Ability to play additional instruments
• Solid experience teaching Music in both classroom and instrumental settings
• Experience conducting vocal and instrumental groups
• Experience leading orchestras
• Experience leading musical productions
• Experience working with and ideally leading a team of peripatetic teachers
• Strong knowledge of music theory
• Passion for all music genres, from classical to rock
• Vision and enthusiasm for developing Music and Drama collaboration
• Evidence of continued professional development and engagement with research-based practice
• Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
• Professional communication and team-working abilities
• Commitment to delivering varied, stimulating, and dynamic lessons through thorough preparation
