## Title: Assistant Director of Legal Services

About the Role

Kenya Rural Roads Authority seeks a dedicated legal professional to serve as Assistant Director of Legal Services, providing strategic legal guidance and oversight of the organization's legal operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in coordinating the activities of the Legal Directorate
  • Provide legal advice to the Authority on matters affecting operations
  • Oversee receipt and management of court processes on behalf of the Authority
  • Supervise the Authority's litigation function
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance across the organization
  • Review, advise, and make recommendations on new legislation, subsidiary legislation, rules, and regulations
  • Supervise legal research and reviews of existing laws affecting the Authority's core functions
  • Draft and review contracts, leases, and other conveyancing documents
  • Monitor ongoing compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Provide support to the Board Secretariat function
  • Conduct training for staff and external stakeholders on national values and principles of governance
  • Oversee proper custody and storage of key legal documents
  • Oversee the Case Management System
  • Participate in contract management activities

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized institution
  • Master's degree in Law from a recognized institution
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Studies from the Council of Legal Education (CLE) or equivalent qualification
  • Admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya
  • Valid Practicing Certificate from the Law Society of Kenya
  • Membership with the Law Society of Kenya in good standing
  • At least twelve (12) years of relevant work experience, with a minimum of three (3) years at the grade of Principal Legal Officer or in a comparable position
  • Leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution
  • Proficiency in computer applications
  • Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results
