## Title: Accountant I

About the Role

Warehouse Receipt System Council (WRSC) is seeking a qualified Accountant I to join our finance team in Nairobi, Kenya. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to our accounting operations while developing your professional expertise.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Cash Management

Prepare payment vouchers and process imprest and travel advances
Receive cash, bank deposits, and reconcile cash books on a daily basis
Post payments and receipts in the cashbook
Provide safe custody of cash and payment vouchers

Financial Records and Reporting

Prepare and update creditor, debtor, and general ledgers
Liaise with customers to provide billing information
Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations
Process statutory deductions payments
Prepare and maintain accurate prepayments, accruals, and provision schedules

Budgetary and Compliance Controls

Check the Vote Book and ensure budgetary controls are in place
Ensure safe custody of accountable documents
Review vote book entries and undertake monthly variance analysis
Conduct below-the-line analysis of accounts

Analysis and Planning

Review monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports
Provide input in the preparation of budget estimates

Mandatory Requirements

Experience

Minimum of three (3) years of service in the grade of Accountant II

Education and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in one of the following disciplines:
- Commerce (Accounting or Finance option)
- Finance
- Business Management (Accounting or Finance option)
- Or equivalent qualification
Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Part I or equivalent qualification

Technical Skills

Proficiency in computer applications
