## Title: Tutorial Fellow/Lecturer in Journalism and Mass Communication

Position Overview

A reputable organization seeks a dedicated individual for this role in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

For Lecturer Position:

  • Earned PhD in Journalism, Mass Communication, or equivalent qualification from an accredited/recognized university
  • Bachelor's degree in the relevant field with a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0 or Second-Class Upper Division from an accredited/recognized university
  • KCSE with at least C+ or equivalent qualification

For Tutorial Fellow Position:

  • Master's degree in Journalism or Mass Communication (preferably enrolled in a PhD program)
  • Bachelor's degree in the relevant field with a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0 or Second-Class Upper Division from an accredited/recognized university
  • KCSE with at least C+ or equivalent qualification

Additional Requirements (Both Positions):

  • Christian in good and regular standing
  • Active accreditation by the Media Council of Kenya

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses within the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences and other programs with relevant course requests
  • Plan and conduct research and grant writing activities
  • Develop teaching materials for blended learning environments
  • Participate in the preparation of departmental plans and documents
  • Attend and participate in seminars, workshops, and conferences in the relevant field
  • Participate in planning, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating curricula within the department
  • Contribute to departmental/school meetings and related activities
  • Provide academic advising to students through mentorship and career guidance
  • Assist in the supervision of Tutorial Fellows during undergraduate teaching (lecturer role)
  • Set, process, moderate, administer, and mark examinations and assignments
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the University administration
