Terminal Manager at Nairobi Inland Cargo Terminal (NICT)

About the Role

The Terminal Manager is responsible for ensuring the efficient execution of container transfer operations from ICDN to NICT and delivering high-quality services to customers clearing their containers at NICT. This position offers excellent opportunities for career growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct effective resource planning and allocation to ensure all areas are adequately staffed and equipped
• Coordinate with the appointed Transport team to allocate trucks required for container transfer to NICT
• Plan terminal operations activities to ensure organized stacking, cleanliness, seal audits, and seamless verification operations per industry standards
• Implement daily operations reports and monitor consistency in execution, taking corrective action as necessary
• Maintain accurate records of all activities, particularly those involving third parties such as KPA, KRA, and NICT customers
• Supervise operations teams to facilitate smooth information flow and service delivery
• Ensure high standards of safety in NICT operations across labor, equipment, and third-party service providers
• Ensure compliance with KRA, KPA, shipping lines documentation and cargo movement processes
• Ensure that cargo is released with valid delivery orders, client documentation, and customs documents
• Execute other duties reasonably assigned by management

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Shipping and Port Management, Business Administration, Management, Transport, Maritime Studies, or a related field
• Minimum 5–8 years of progressive experience in logistics, shipping, or terminal operations
• At least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role within a CFS, port, or warehouse environment
• Proven experience in container handling and storage operations
• Proven experience in customs clearance procedures
• Proven experience coordinating with KPA, KRA, shipping lines, and transporters
