About the Role

This position offers a great opportunity for career growth within a highly dynamic business organization with a strong international footprint. You will work in our Nairobi office as part of a delivery team, ensuring tight collaboration within the team and with cross-office teams, under the direction and supervision of the Lead Senior Software Engineer.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance market infrastructure software solutions as part of a delivery team
• Conduct testing and QA activities
• Document deliverables
• Provide maintenance and support for existing systems
• Work collaboratively in a dynamic environment with team members and cross-office teams
• Execute tasks under the direction of the Lead Senior Software Engineer

Required Skills & Knowledge

• Demonstrable knowledge of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and software engineering fundamentals
• Strong grasp of OOP principles
• Proficiency in Java (Jakarta EE and Spring Boot knowledge is a plus)
• Demonstrable knowledge of relational databases and SQL
• Demonstrable knowledge of web technologies
• Strong work ethic, curiosity, and collaborative mindset
• Strong spoken and written English communication skills
• Ability to work effectively as a team player and execute instructions under supervision

Added Advantages

• Demonstrable ability to understand and evolve existing codebases with strong debugging and code comprehension skills
• Knowledge of Docker, Linux, and Gradle
• Multi-lingual abilities (English plus French, Portuguese, or Spanish)
• Familiarity with financial systems, payment solutions, and platforms
• Master's degree

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science
• 2-4 years of professional experience as a Java Software Engineer
• Additional Certifications in Software Engineering and related specializations are an added advantage
