## Title: Software Developer (Healthcare Technology) - University of Nairobi

About the Position

The Centre for Healthcare Quality and Innovation (CHQI) at the Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Nairobi, seeks to recruit four (4) Software Developers on a three-month temporary basis in Nairobi. You will report to the Senior Systems Specialist and support the development of front-end interfaces, backend systems, integrations, and data pipelines for healthcare solutions.

Job Purpose

Support front-end interfaces to backend systems, integrations, and data pipelines for healthcare quality and innovation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop responsive frontends using React and other modern frontend frameworks
  • Build robust backends with Java, C#, and Python, including RESTful APIs
  • Design and implement dashboards and reporting tools to support healthcare providers and other stakeholders
  • Develop and maintain ETL pipelines and contribute to data engineering tasks
  • Work with multiple databases (SQL and NoSQL) to support diverse solutions
  • Integrate with third-party services such as EMRs, bulk SMS providers, payment gateways, and other healthcare systems
  • Contribute to AI and machine learning initiatives including predictive analytics, automation, and clinical insights
  • Deploy, monitor, and support solutions in production environments
  • Collaborate in a cross-functional team to design secure, scalable, and user-friendly systems

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Knowledge of React or other frontend development frameworks
  • Expert-level competence in C#, Java, or Python programming language
  • Familiarity with API design, development, and integration
  • Understanding of databases (relational and NoSQL)
  • Basic experience in AI and machine learning concepts including NLP, predictive modelling, and data science workflows
