Job description
## Title: Senior Registrar, Pediatrics
Job Purpose
Provide comprehensive medical care to patients from birth to young adulthood (21 years of age), addressing their physical, emotional, and social health needs. Diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic diseases, including major complicated illnesses, while offering clinical consultation and patient care across all medical settings.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Undertake clinical procedures in Accident & Emergency, wards, clinics, and outpatient centers
- Provide initial patient management, including assessment, stabilization, and disposition of patients with emergent conditions in accordance with medical staff policy
- Deliver intensive care to patients in compliance with unit policies
- Make clinical decisions regarding immediate patient management and appropriate patient referrals
- Conduct daily ward rounds
- Enhance evidence-based practice and promote continuous quality improvement in clinical practice and service delivery
- Maintain patient confidentiality and professional work ethics
- Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to Senior Registrars in the specialist recognition program and Medical Officers in clinics and wards
- Facilitate continual medical education sessions and participate in continuing medical education (CME)
- Participate in major disaster management activities
- Contribute to research initiatives and development of clinical protocols
- Ensure all standards are met, including quality of care, turnaround times, effective communication, and customer service
- Participate in on-call duties
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery
- Master of Medicine in Pediatrics or other recognized board-certified equivalent qualification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (APLS) certification
