Senior Principal Trainer I at Bandari Maritime Academy

Duties and Responsibilities

• Initiate, formulate and implement institutional policies and strategies
• Design, develop and deliver capacity building programmes in management and related areas
• Coordinate development of instructional materials for training
• Coordinate development and review of curriculum and syllabus
• Coordinate practical sessions, trade projects and business plan development
• Participate in sector skills development initiatives
• Coordinate and report on training programmes, seminars, workshops and symposia
• Initiate and coordinate research and consultancy assignments
• Conduct capacity building surveys
• Supervise and mentor trainers
• Design staff development programs in areas of specialization
• Evaluate and review training programmes
• Provide liaison between the academy and industry
• Coordinate implementation of training programmes according to established syllabus
• Coordinate the setting, administration and marking of examinations

Required Qualifications

Work Experience:

• Minimum of 15 years relevant work experience
• At least 3 years at the grade of Senior Principal Trainer II (MET) or comparable position

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields: Nautical Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Marine Engineering
• Master's degree in one of the following fields: Nautical Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Marine Engineering

Certifications and Training:

• Certificate of Competence (CoC) in accordance with STCW 78 conventions (amended) - either 2nd Engineer (III/2) or Chief Mate (II/2)
• Competence Based Assessment from a recognized institution
• Pedagogical Skills Training Certificate from a recognized institution
• Leadership course certificate
