About the Role

Karatina University seeks a dedicated Senior Medical Officer to lead and manage the university's health services operations. This position requires strong leadership, clinical expertise, and a commitment to delivering quality healthcare within an academic setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage university health services operations and ensure smooth delivery of clinical services
• Organize, plan, and control resources available at the university health services
• Participate in planning and development committees
• Manage and implement projects for health services development
• Lead staff development and capacity building initiatives
• Provide specialized medical services across various disciplines
• Manage medical stores, plant, and equipment used in relevant specializations
• Perform any other duties as assigned by senior management

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MB ChB) from a recognized institution
• Valid registration with the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board
• At least 5 years of relevant post-internship work experience as a Medical Practitioner with proven performance record
• Current practicing certificate
• Evidence of continuing professional development
• Knowledge of Information Communication Technology
• Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya
