Senior Legal Officer – TRA 6 at Tourism Regulatory Authority

Purpose of the Role

To provide timely and accurate legal advice to Management, enabling informed decision-making and ensuring that the Tourism Regulatory Authority meets its legal obligations in line with its mandate.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement legal policies, strategies, regulations, and procedures and maintain legal registry
• Prepare and review legal documents, instruments, legal opinions, and briefs
• Prepare and update records of gazetted matters relating to the Authority
• Prepare leases and contracts
• Ensure safe custody of the Authority's legal documents and records
• Analyze data for legal research, investigation, and preparation of submissions on legal issues affecting the Authority
• Handle pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries
• Prepare periodic legal reports
• Update register of conflicts of interest and gift registers
• Undertake other duties as reasonably assigned and consistent with the level of responsibility attached to this role

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Laws degree from a recognized institution
• Post Graduate Diploma in Law from Kenya School of Law
• Admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid Practicing Certificate

Required Experience

• At least six (6) years' cumulative experience
• A minimum of three (3) years at the grade of Legal Officer I or in a comparable position

Other Requirements

• Compliance with the provisions of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya
