Position Overview

Laikipia University's School of Humanities and Development Studies is seeking a Senior Lecturer to join our dynamic team. This position reports to the Chairperson of Department and offers the opportunity to lead academic excellence across teaching, research, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead curriculum development and review processes
• Develop appropriate learning and teaching materials to ensure effective delivery of subject matter
• Deliver lectures to undergraduate and postgraduate students
• Conduct continual evaluation of student coursework to assess teaching effectiveness and student performance
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assignments, and continuous assessments
• Assess student performance and prepare progress reports to inform academic decision-making
• Advise students on academic improvement strategies
• Participate in examination results discussions at departmental, school, and senate levels to ensure course effectiveness and improved performance
• Prepare and deliver course outlines and content to students

Research and Knowledge Development

• Participate in the development and execution of research projects to extend knowledge in the relevant subject area
• Develop research projects and extend knowledge of the relevant subject area
• Generate innovation activities and intellectual property in area of specialization
• Publish in peer-reviewed articles, books, and book chapters
• Undertake academic consultancies

Community and Professional Engagement

• Participate in the provision of service to the community and the profession
• Participate in the translation and implementation of knowledge into practice
• Provide expertise in areas of specialization for university income generation programs
• Conduct academic seminars at departmental and school levels
• Attend senate, school, and departmental meetings as required
