## Title: Senior Lecturer in Gender Studies

About the Position

The National Defence University (NDU-K) in Nairobi, Kenya seeks an experienced professional to join our academic faculty as a Senior Lecturer in Gender Studies at Job Grade NDU 5a. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to contribute to advanced teaching, research, and academic leadership in this critical field.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Undertake teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Conduct research and produce publications and other research outputs
  • Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research
  • Participate in curriculum development and review
  • Prepare, administer, and manage examinations
  • Participate in administration and management of departmental programmes and activities
  • Develop learning materials
  • Conduct community outreach activities
  • Participate in the development and review of academic programmes
  • Guide and counsel students
  • Attend and participate in research conferences and seminars
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in a relevant area from a recognized and accredited university (or a Master's degree qualification in special cases)
  • At least three (3) years of teaching or research experience at the university level as a Lecturer or Research Fellow, or six (6) years of research or industry experience
  • A minimum of thirty-two (32) publication points as a Lecturer or equivalent, of which twenty-four (24) should be from refereed scholarly journals
  • Supervision of at least three (3) postgraduate students to completion as a Lecturer or Research Fellow
  • Registration or registrability with the relevant professional body (where applicable)
  • Proficiency in computer applications
  • Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance
