Senior Environmentalist at Kenya Rural Roads Authority

About the Role

Kenya Rural Roads Authority seeks a dedicated Senior Environmentalist to support sustainable road development through environmental monitoring, compliance, and impact assessment.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake environmental monitoring and evaluation of project activities against environmental regulations and standards
• Assist in implementation of environmental and social strategies and action plans that ensure sustainable roads development
• Coordinate Environmental and Social Impact Assessment Studies for new projects
• Monitor performance of environmental activities and document all changes (qualitatively and quantitatively) in line with the Authority's M&E framework and guidelines
• Coordinate planning, collection, collation, and analysis of environmental research data and disclosure of findings
• Develop and deliver regular spot checks to ensure that proposed mitigation measures are properly implemented according to guidelines
• Provide support to project development initiatives and ensure environmental and social development issues are addressed
• Undertake all activities involved in environmental sustainability as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Environmental Planning & Management, Environmental Health, Environmental & Biosystems Engineering, Environmental Conservation & Natural Resources Management, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution
• Registration with NEMA as a Lead Expert
• Valid Annual Practicing License from NEMA

Required Experience

• Minimum six (6) years of relevant work experience, with at least three (3) years at the grade of Environmentalist I or in a comparable position
