## Title: Senior Accountant
About the Organization
Kenya Rural Roads Authority seeks dedicated individuals for this senior accounting role.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure timely preparation of budgets in line with applicable laws and regulations
- Ensure proper budgetary control and monitoring
- Verify vouchers and payment support documents in accordance with laid-down rules and regulations
- Process payments to suppliers, service providers, consultants, and contractors in line with policies, procedures, contractual provisions, and applicable laws and regulations
- Maintain primary records such as cashbooks, ledgers, vote books, and registers
- Ensure safe custody of the Authority's financial records and assets
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in a timely manner
- Maintain an up-to-date asset register for the Authority
- Balance and reconcile cashbooks on a daily basis
- Facilitate withdrawal of cash for office use and ensure its safety at all times
- Prepare bank reconciliations
- Manage tax compliance, reporting, and filing for the Authority
- Ensure compliance with IAS, IPSAS, Kenyan laws and regulations, and the Authority's financial policies and procedures
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce (Accounting or Finance option) or equivalent from a university recognized in Kenya
- Passed Part III of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) examination or equivalent professional qualification
- Registration with ICPAK or any other equivalent professional body and in good standing
Required Experience
- Cumulative service period of six (6) years of relevant work experience
- Minimum three (3) years at the grade of Accountant I or in a comparable position
