Safety Officer at West Kenya Sugar Limited

About the Role

We are seeking a qualified Safety Officer to develop, implement, and manage comprehensive health and safety programs across our project sites. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all company, industry, and regulatory guidelines while maintaining a strong safety culture.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive health and safety programs and policies at project sites
• Ensure the project meets all company, industry, and regulatory guidelines, including maintaining required safety documentation and submitting reports
• Conduct safety briefings at the beginning of each workday to highlight potential hazards, discuss safety measures, and reinforce the importance of adherence to safety protocols
• Work closely with project management teams, engineers, and subcontractors to address safety concerns and develop site-specific safety plans and Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs)
• Regularly conduct site safety walkthroughs to visually inspect ongoing work, identify potential safety risks, and engage with workers to address any concerns
• Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations and project-specific safety plans
• Serve as the primary contact for incident and injury notification, leading the investigation of accidents to determine root causes and prevent future occurrences
• Develop and deliver site orientation, safety meetings, and other training programs for all site personnel, including subcontractors
• Organize and maintain all necessary project safety documentation and records
• Develop and implement emergency preparedness and response plans, such as traffic control plans
